**We highly suggest downloading or utilizing the Omio app to help you get around the Naples area. If you need a taxi, the FreeNow app works similar to Uber linking you to taxis via the app.**
From the Capodichino airport you have three options: Bus, Taxi, Rental Car.
Bus: The “Alibus” is just a few minutes walk from the airport, costs 5 Euros and has 3 stops: Airport, Central Station, Port.
Taxi: Depending on where you need to go in Naples, it will cost you about 20-30 euros to get to most areas from the airport. Cash is always preferred but if credit card is all you have insist on paying with the card in case they push back.
Rental Car: Costs vary (not suggested if you are staying in Naples)
On Foot
Exploring Napoli on foot is the best and easiest way as parking and driving can be a stressful experience for those not accustomed to the driving culture. It is a walkable city with many cute alleys, great shopping, amazing foods and incredible architecture. Similarly it will be an immersion of the senses. From noises of yelling, and car horns to the smells of pizza, pastries and simmering pasta sauces. Exploring on-foot is the best way to take in the chaotic magic of this city from the sea, to the castles and panoramic views, and perhaps best of all, the people watching. Stay tuned for a blog on self-walking tours!

Ferries
Ferries are privately run by a few different companies. SNAV, Caremar, NLG JET, Medmar, Alilauro to name a few. We recommend using Omio to book. When booking online you will still need to go to the ticket counter to retrieve your physical ticket utilizing your online receipt/QR code. We suggest getting there at least 30 minutes prior to the departure time to allow yourself to queue up for boarding passes. For ferries and cruise ships the main ports in Naples are Molo Beverello, Porta di Massa. For hydrofoils, Mergellina port is also used. A half hour drive north, there is also the city port of Pozzuoli for ferries.

Taxi/Uber
UBER is NOT available in Naples, however, the Freenow app works similar and links you to taxis. Fair warning, the taxi drivers can be a bit suspicious and often drive like the world is ending, which can be fun if you like a thrill. They will likely ask you for cash but legally are required to accept credit card. To call a taxi here are a couple numbers for dispatching: +39 081-2222 ; +39 081-8888

Cars and driving
We do not recommend driving in Naples if you can avoid it. It is a stressful undertaking feels like you landed somewhere between New York City and Vietnam. Check out this video for a glimpse. If you do decide to drive here are some tips.
- Keep constant awareness for pedestrians, scooters, and bikes
- Honk and use flash your lights to communicate
- Blue parking spaces are pay parking; white spaces are free; yellow are not to be used. EasyPark is a convenient app to pay for parking on your phone. Put a note in your window if you do use the app. Keep in mind, not all areas are covered by the app.
- Keep an eye out for parking signs especially if leaving your car overnight somewhere, as it can get towed.
- On the highway, try to stay out of the left lane unless you are passing
- Lastly, don’t get angry. Just relax and go with the flow. And don’t hit anyone or anything… 🙂
